When you are the owner of a home business, you will find hundreds of distractions that vie for your time, energy and focus.
Common distractions include: children, family, friends, neighbors, pets, phone calls, mail, household chores, video games, television, neighborhood children, visitors, and so many more.
As an owner of a home based business, you must always remember your purpose in bringing your profession home. What was your reason for wanting to own a home business? Was your goal to work from home so that you can share in the lives of your children? Was your goal to be out from under the rule of a tyrannical boss? Was your goal to have the freedom to work when it is convenient for you? Was your goal to make tons of money working for yourself?
Here`s a few good tips that will help you stay focused on your home business:
TIP #1: Whatever your reason for going out on your own, you must keep your reason in the forefront of your mind. If you forget your reason for starting your own home business, you will not be working for yourself for long. It is far too easy to let circumstance drive your activities --- and when circumstance is in the driver`s seat, you are more likely to crash and burn.
TIP #2: Remember --- your own business is a lot like a real job. Some people go to work to play, some go to socialize, and others --- most often those who are paid in a commission or tip environment --- go to work to work and to make money. When you work for yourself, your salary is directly proportional to your productivity. Therefore, wouldn`t it make sense to stay focused on getting as much done in as short of a period as possible?
Go to work to work and to make money. Leave playtime and recreation for when your workday has ended.
TIP #3: When you are dealing with family in the course of your workday, it is important to schedule your activities as much as possible. With small children, you must take time when you must, but you should also work hard to make sure you dedicate a specific number of hours to your workday.
With older children, it is much easier to tell them that you will be working between the hours of x and y. Your children and your friends must understand that certain hours of your day are devoted to the activities of your business.
TIP #4: Don`t permit your friends and extended family to run over you. Many people get the blind idea that if one works from home then they are not actually working.
Well-meaning people may try to fill your doorway to bring advice about getting a real job. Others may simply believe that if you are at home, then you are fair game for chitchat and socialization.
You must stand firm. You must make certain your friends and family understands that when you are working, then you ARE working! If they wish to socialize with you, then they need to do it during the hours that are not dedicated to your home business. You are the only one who can stand up for you. Your friends and family will seldom be able to appreciate your dedication to your home business, unless you make the effort to make sure that they have the same respect for your business that you do.
TIP #5: You should allot a certain portion of your day to email and to regular mail. For example, allot one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon to handling your written communications.
Unless you dedicate certain times to the handling of these communications, you will soon find yourself on the downward slope of decreased productivity.
TIP #6: When you find yourself spending too much time doing non-productive activities, then you should seriously consider finding a third-party service provider who will assist you in those non-profitable business activities.
As an example, you might be in the mail-order business. You might believe that your time is best spent writing ad copy and setting up your advertising, but you find yourself spending far too much time taking care of your books to take care of your advertising in the manner that you should. In this event, it might make more sense to hire a bookkeeper to handle your financial records for you.
***IN CONCLUSION*** In the end, the success of your home business is entirely and completely reliant upon you and the decisions that you make.
You had your reasons for deciding to start your own home based business. You must always keep your reasons in the forefront of your mind. You must always be able to rely upon your own self and your dedication to the success of your business.
Your friends and family might be annoyed that they cannot come visit upon their own whim, but when success comes to you and your business, they will better appreciate you for putting your foot down when necessary.
Success is within your reach, if only you can stay focused on your goals. You must decide to reach for your goals, and then, you must have the discipline necessary to reach them. Labels: Home Based Business, Home Business, Internet Based Business, Internet Profits, Work From Home

Your options are endless when it comes to making online profits. There are many things to choose from within any range of difficulty. Online auctions is one of those options. This article will elaborate on online auctions and how you can make money from them. Online auctions are pretty much just what they sound like. A means of bidding on certain items over the Internet. Auctions bid from site to site. Each site does their auctions a little differently. Some sites have no time limit, some have no money limit, some only sell to certain regions, some are worldwide, etc. There are many different types. This is a great way to find cheap items to buy and sell. You can make lots of money from online auctions. There are also many sites you can go on that do online auctions. Most instead of charging initially will take a little bit out of every business transaction you have for using their site. You can profit in a few different ways from online auctions. Say you bought a collectible item in the 1970s. It is worth much money today if it is in good condition, and at an online auction you will find thousands of people interested in your item. You can make lots of money this way. Another way you could profit is from buying something for cheap of one site and then selling it for more money than you bought it on another site. Yet another way is to buy something cheaply at a store and then sell it for higher than its original price at an online auction. You wouldn't believe the things that some people buy and the prices they buy them at. But hey, that just means more money for you! The way most online auctions work is that you would get an account on a certain site. You can watch auctions or jump in to bid on them. There is usually a time limit and if you win the auction from the highest bid, you get the product and you pay the party selling it to you through some kind of Internet pay site, check or money order. If you're the one selling the item, the item will go to the auction's highest bidder. Most sites will allow you a time limit, and a base price. Say you have an item that you don't want to sell for less than twenty dollars: most sites will let you set a base of twenty dollars, meaning that bidders cannot bid under this amount. Sometimes you can also set a bid increment. If your bid increment is five dollars and your base bid is twenty, a bidder cannot bid under five dollars more than your base price or under five dollars more than the highest bid. Online auctions can be a great way to make some fast money. It's almost like gambling, and when you practice and learn the tricks of the trade, you can soon become very successful at winning auctions and making lots of money with online auctions! With the price of groceries and many other daily essentials, many people are finding themselves short at the end of the month. Very few people have what used to be considered pocket change. If you find yourself in this situation, you may be considering finding a part time job to give you a few extra dollars a month. However, before you jump the gun, you may want to consider making money online with pay per click sites. A pay per click site is a website that will pay you to view ads that are listed by a variety of businesses. When joining, you will be asked to fill out a list of your interests. Your ads to view will be based on this list. Simply click on the ads available and you will earn money. The pay, of course, depends upon the website and what the business is offering, but you will find most will pay between $.01 and $.05 per ad. The time involved in making money online with these sites is minimal. Each ad will require you to view it from anywhere between 30 seconds and a full minute. Once the ad comes up that you’ve been paid, you can close it and go to the next ad. While you may wish there were thousands of ads to view, you will find there is only about 10 to 20 each day for your viewing. What this means is that for less than 20 minutes a day, you can make a little bit of extra cash. When signing up for these pay per click sites, you will find that most of them will allow you to join for free. These will give you a few ads each day and some will allow you to pay for a better membership to get more ads to view. Many people find the cost is well worth it, however, beware of those that ask for a large fee or promise you are going to get rich. This is not a get rich kind of business. It’s simply a way to earn some extra cash. While you may be looking for a part time job, making money online is actually an easy way to earn cash and it allows you to do the work from your home. This means that you can spend more time with your family and still earn some money. Labels: Extra Cash At Home, Internet Based Business, Internet Profits, Make Money Online, Pay Per Click

In the previous part of this article, I have touched base on the first three components of Marketing on the Internet that were, Advertising, Sales Support and Customer Service. I have also explained each of these functions to the extent that helped you to understand how the Internet has transformed doing business and marketing to potential consumers. So let us continue as promised with the remaining two functions.
Another purpose for a web site as well is to create a positive Public Relations image. Some companies place information about not-for-profit and philanthropic causes they support on their websites. Individuals not only see what the company is doing but also may be able to volunteer for or donate money to a cause. At times these sites are separate from the company’s primary site. In others, a link within the site is developed.
Preparing a Public Relations site may be used by a firm in order to react to bad publicity. This gives the firm the opportunity to refute a charge or to explain the company’s side of the story.
As far as the E-commerce is concerned, many times a website is designed for E-commerce or selling goods on the Internet. E-commerce can take on many different forms. A retail store can vend items to consumers through the Internet when there is no handy outlet nearby or simply as a convenience for some shoppers.
E-commerce also can be a retail operation that sells entirely on the Internet without any physical store or even inventory. Services are offered, deals are mediated and products are shipped through this range of E-commerce operations. Instead of investigating all of the various forms of E-commerce, I will just provide a short synopsis of why and how setting up an E-commerce site benefits an organization.
Individual businesses have approached E-commerce in various ways. At one extreme it is the business that jumped into E-commerce immediately, because the organization’s leaders decided it was the trend of the future. These individuals concluded that the day would come when there would be no retail stores and everything would be purchased over the Internet or through an interactive television setup.
The other extreme includes those who decided that E-commerce is a fad that soon will pass away. These business leaders believe that consumers prefer dealing with people and therefore always will go to retail stores to make purchases. In reality, neither extreme seems very likely.
To the established retail operation, E-commerce offers customers an alternative mode for making purchases. Not every customer uses the Internet, but many do. As time passes, more people will become more comfortable with web site shopping. Without an E-commerce site, these customers are lost to other retail operations who have established online retail site.
Many times consumers make purchases at retail stores after first using the Internet to gather information. For example; a shopper may research stereos on the Internet and then go to the store with a list of - - finalists - -. Another person may get on the Internet and find a fishing rod with a special set of features. Using the Internet store locator, the individual identifies the closest store offering the product to make the actual purchase.
In that case, even though the customer did not make the purchase via E-commerce, he or she has used the Internet as part of the buying decision-making process. Consequently, the leaders of most established businesses know they must develop high quality E-commerce sites in order to remain competitive in the twenty-first century. Based on the internet, affiliate marketing is a business that rewards affiliates for the customers and visitors that each of them bring into that business through marketing labors. Affiliates are either a company or a person that directs visitors to pages of businesses in order to gain rewards or commission. The basic idea of this type of online marketing is to drive internet traffic from one site to another in order to promote products and services of their online partners. A website owner will place an advertisement for a merchant's products or a company's offers in exchange for part of the profits from that offer or product. In affiliate marketing there are three ways to earn money: pay per click, pay per sale and pay per lead. For pay per click, when a prospective customer is lead to the merchant or company site through a link on the affiliate's page, a specific amount of money - which could range from a few cents to large dollar amounts - is deposited into the affiliate's account. When the agreement is set up as pay per sale, a percentage of the profit is placed into the affiliate's account. And for the last option, pay per lead, whenever a potential buyer or client registers on the merchant or company site the affiliate's account is deposited with a prearranged amount.Affiliate marketing is beneficial for merchants and companies as well as the web site owners that place the ads on their pages. The web site owners can make a little extra money without actually having to do any work at all while the merchants will be gaining exposure and will also not have to do much work to obtain sales. Although there are many benefits to affiliate marketing, there are also some drawbacks. For example, the merchant will be sharing part of his profit with the web site owner that displayed his ad and the merchant or company will have to deal with upholding their reputation and possibly doing some damage control if their affiliate uses disagreeable means in order to gain sales. But not only are there drawbacks for the merchant or company, there are also cons for the affiliate as well. Affiliates need to be sure that they do research on each merchant they are planning on working with to ensure that their background shows that they will be true to their word and pay commission when they are supposed to and help the affiliate with any problems associated with their company or product. Failure to do a background check can result in the company not agreeing on commission or refusing to pay or even moving their business without informing any of their affiliates.Affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to earn money online. If you are interested in affiliate marketing you need to pay attention to the following tips: be sure to research each merchant thoroughly before deciding to work with them, be sure that you will have a relationship with the merchant or company in which it will be beneficial for both parties and lastly, you need to be sure that being an affiliate is something that you can keep up with over a long period of time. After following these tips, the only thing left for you to do is cooperate with the merchant and wait for your profits to pour in.Labels: Affiliate Business Opportunities, Affiliate Marketing, Internet Profits, Make Money Online, Online Marketing

The greatest impact of the Internet is on sales, marketing and distribution systems for various businesses. These three activities typically account for 20% to 30% of the final cost of a good or service. What makes the potential of the Internet so exciting is that e-commerce companies have the potential to save 10% to 20% of these costs.
Thus, instead of paying for packing, shipping and transporting the product to a retail site, the firm has the option to send it directly to customers and can pocket the markup a retailer would receive. Also, the company can choose to mark down the price of an item, saving customers money and enticing more purchases. Shipping costs may be charged to customers for e-commerce purchases. As a result, the manufacturer does not need to absorb these costs which are normally part of the price charged to retailers.
Specifically, The primary functions a business website can normally provide on the Internet include: Advertising, Sales Support, Customer Service, Public Relations and E-commerce (retail store).
The marketing team should carefully consider each of these components when designing and managing an Internet program. The design of a website should be guided by the IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications) plan and the specific objectives the site seeks to accomplish within the overall IMC program.
So , to explain each of these functions clearly and ensure that you understand them well; I will split this article into two parts. In this part I will cover the first three functions that are: Advertisement, Sales Support and Customer Service while I will be discussing the Public Relations and E-commerce in a separate composition.
A flashy website designed to attract attention is created when goal is Advertising. Many firms use websites to promote individual products as well as the overall company. For instance, most movies now are advertised through traditional media (television, magazines) but also have websites for e-moviegoers to view.
Still, Advertising is rarely presented by itself without being incorporated with other marketing functions. Some websites are for Sales Support. In those instances, information about the products should be accessible through either a salesperson or a direct link from the webpage. These types of websites are used more routinely for the business-to-business customers rather than retail consumers.
Effective Sales Support sites must be useful for engineers and other members of the buying center who need additional product information. The actual sale is normally made via a salesperson. Then, the price and terms can be negotiated separately.
A Customer Service Internet site provides a different function. The goal of a Customer Service website is to support the customer after the sale. In this instance, documentation and operating information are provided. Customers who have questions can use the e-mail function to obtain information or scroll through the FAQs or (Frequently Asked Questions) to see the popular concerns people raise about various items or services.
Portions of these sites may be password protected in order to ensure that only customers who have purchased products can access certain information.
These Marketing functions clearly indicate the potential of the Internet to be a valuable component of the company’s IMC program. In my coming article, I’ll provide a complete description of the remaining two items Public Relations and E-commerce. Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest passive ways for your home business website to make substantial income. This method of marketing was developed to drive traffic to one website through another, targeting specific types of potential customers that may be interested in the content of both sites. When searching for the appropriate affiliate marketing program for your business, you may start by simply looking on the Internet for established programs. Many larger companies and websites have already developed affiliate programs from which you may benefit, and have a set pay scale for each site visitor that arrives at their site through yours. These programs work like this: you sign up to be part of the established affiliate marketing program, and agree to post the affiliate website’s logo or banner ad on your site. When any visitor to your site clicks on these to visit the affiliate’s site, you are typically paid on a per-click or per sale basis. Another option, especially if you cater to a niche market, is contacting companies and websites directly to try to establish a proprietary affiliate program. This key to this is positioning your website and visitors to become a positive investment to the possible affiliate. If you have an established home business and website, you may be able to gather statistics regarding numbers of visitors and the typical customer profile. This information can be very influential when approaching another company about an affiliate marketing program or partnership between the two of you. This form of marketing is also beneficial for your website. Consider establishing your own affiliate marketing program in order to advertise your home business and drive traffic to your site for very little cost. Even those who do not click through to your site will still become familiar with your business name using these affiliate programs. When starting a new home business or website, it’s very important to establish low-cost marketing programs in order to increase traffic and profits. Affiliate marketing is perhaps one of the best ways to accomplish this task, and can also be beneficial to other related websites on the Internet. Another possibility is establishing an equal, non-paying relationship with a related website. By exchanging an agreement to post banner or other ads for visitors to click through to the other website, this is a great way for new home business owners to combine marketing efforts and double potential customers immediately.
